Vehicle Description
Here's what I know: These Cruzes are typically little fuel efficient, easy to work on, cars. I also know that most of them at some point need the timing chain and up (which includes head gaskets) redone. I don't have any history on this. When I bought it, I drove it up the hill and around. It ran and drove pretty decently. Motor sounded good, transmission shifted fine, didn't overheat or anything. When I got back and shut it off, it wanted to just crank and not restart. After some diagnosis, I'm leaning toward the head gaskets needing replaced. Knowing what I know about these cars, I was just planning on doing the whole timing replacement and up job, but I just have been bogged down with too many other things to get to it.
If you have a little mechanical knowledge and access to you tube and some basic tools, this is a job that can be done in a couple days. If you do not know a steering wheel from a blower wheel, this is probably not the project for you. You probably need a trailer to take it home (although there is a chance that it will start, don't plan on it).
